About
About Petal Hem
Petal Hem is a small set of free planners for people who would rather own fewer clothes and wear them more.
What is here
- Capsule wardrobe planner: list your pieces by category and color, mark what doesn't go together, and count the outfits.
- Outfit color wheel: color combinations from one base color, on swatches and on a figure.
- Printable outfit planner: a week or month of outfits, from your capsule or by hand, for A4 or US Letter.
- Cost-per-wear calculator: what a piece costs each time you wear it, with cleaning, repairs and resale.
How it works
Every calculation happens in your browser, on your device. What you type into the planners is kept in your browser's local storage so it is still there next time, and it is never sent to us or anyone else. You can delete it at any time with the “Start empty” or “Clear sheet” buttons, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
The site counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and never receives what you type into the tools. The privacy page has the details.
Where the numbers come from
Outfit counts are plain combinatorics: the choices for each part of an outfit multiply. Color schemes follow the standard color-wheel definitions, and every outside figure, such as how much of a typical wardrobe goes unworn, names its source on the page where it appears. Style suggestions, such as which neutrals suit a color, are rules of thumb rather than facts, and the pages say so.
Who makes it
Petal Hem is free to use, with no accounts or sign-ups. It is one of a family of small free tool sites; you will find a few related ones in the footer.
